Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 was well-received, and it was a hit that yearned for a sequel. Columbia Pictures and Sony started developing Spider-Man 4 with Raimi in the director’s seat. Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst would have remained in the roles of Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson.
The film should have featured several minor antagonists, but the chief nemesis would have been Vulture played by John Malkovich. Anne Hathway was supposed to play Felicia Hardy who would have become Black Cat, but just a year before the release, Raimi gave up on the project.
