Kellen Moore, a former Dallas Cowboys QB, will probably become a team’s new quarterback coach. According to several reports, Moore, who was released by Dallas this season, is supposed to retire from professional football and take the vacant position in the Cowboys.
If he opts for this move, Moore will follow in his father Tom’s footsteps, who won four state championship and has 21 league titles as Prosser’s coach. Tom is currently the quarterback coach at Richland which won state for the third time in the team’s history.
Kellen Moore was one of the high-quality quarterbacks before his NFL career, and he managed to lead the Mustangs to the state title back in 2007. In the meantime, at Boise State, he earned conference Offensive Player of the Year three years in a row from 2009 to 2011, whereas he was in Top 8 of Heisman Trophy voting in those three seasons.
Despite a solid college career, he wasn’t drafted due to his size – he is short and lean for the NFL, but that didn’t stop the Detroit Lions to snatch him. However, he got cut later on only to be picked up by the Dallas Cowboys in 2015. He was mostly on the practice squad, but he did get a chance in three games, which is the only professional playing time he got in his NFL career.
Moore will stay in the league as a quarterback coach, and it will be interesting to watch him and Dak Prescott working together. This guy will be in charge of his development whereas, Prescott who had a fantastic rookie year showed everyone that he still has a lot to learn.
