The smartphone giant Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced on Tuesday that it will take the help of other companies to design bands for its newly launched Apple Watch. Even though, external companies can apply to grab this opportunity, but they will need to follow the standards set by Apple.

What Next

Apple has made public a 13-page document for all the developers which outlines a lot of requirements and recommendations for those who are interested in developing their personalized bands. These recommendations comprise of various difficult standards testing as well as the material that is supposed to be used in these bands.

Apple states that the third party bands are important for various reasons. The first and the most important among them is the customization. In today’s time, Apple needs excellent customization for its Watch as it plays a critical role in the short term as well as in the long term. When it comes to the pricing part, Apple expects these bands to be pricey. They will certainly uplift the overall base cost of Apple Watch. If one opts for a different band, which may look better than others, he/she adds hundreds of dollars to the price.

There are opportunities to make these bands cheaper, but Apple doesn’t want to compromise on the technology used in them. The company has already turned the Apple Watch into a full-fledged hardware, which is equipped with almost everything that one can think of under the blue sky.

Pebble, the prominent smart watchmaker, embraces this idea and states that there is nothing wrong in increasing the overall price if it comes at the cost of high-end technology.

The bands made available by Apple have not grabbed any good feedback from customers; hence, this looks one of the most intelligent decisions that the technology giant can take at this moment.
