Ben Roethlisberger Not Sure About Playing In 2017

Big Ben Roethlisberger is a two-time Super Bowl champion, a guy that has been one of the best quarterbacks in the past decade and a player that has been the symbol of the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise ever since they drafted him back in 2004. But, after 12 years, he might be ready to call it a career.

This guy hasn’t said that he is going to retire, but he has stated that he is still not going to commit to playing in 2017. That all might be just him not ready to move on from the loss that his team suffered in New England. Still, we need to think about his recent injuries and his durability. Roethlisberger has been hurt a lot in the past couple of years, and he might be ready to move on from the game.

“I’m going to take this offseason to evaluate, to consider all options. To consider health, and family and things like that and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season, if there’s going to be the next season.”

When a guy plays as long as Big Ben has and with his injury history, it’s reasonable for him to think about his health and family and what another season might hold for him. Coach Mike Tomlin has stated that he hasn’t met with his quarterback after the loss to Steelers and that he isn’t alarmed by Roethlisberger’s comments.

“He said it. So you do take it seriously,” Tomlin said. “I think that that’s a fair assessment in terms of where he is in his career. I’m not alarmed by it. I just think that’s football.”
