Chelsea Handler Loved Her BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY), But Now Uses iPhone

BlackBerry

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) might be the preferred gadget for Kim Kardashian, but so is not the case with Chelsea Handler. She believes that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone is the only phone around that is good enough to use, and rest are not even close to it.

When Kara Swisher of Re/code asked her about the mobile device she uses, Handler replied, “I use Apple,” adding “Are there any others?”

Handler did used BlackBerry earlier

Handler also made fun of her manager’s device, Blackberry Passport. Handler first confused it with a Samsung Galaxy, but was later corrected by her manager. At the Code/media conference, Handler said, “You think I give a shit?” and then she made fun of the size of the device saying, “It’s big and it takes up half the car.”

Handler says she is easily able to put herself in the company of iPhone and Android users as she too used a BlackBerry in the past. However, she did told “I loved my BlackBerry,” and parting with her BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) device was not easy.

In the Code Conference last year, Kardashian praised BlackBerry and her love for the device was no hidden secret. She said she tries to stock the device, which meant that she can’t imagine her life without a BlackBerry, though on several occasions she had been caught using other devices as well.

Benefit to BlackBerry users

Even though more users are inclined towards the iPhone, one benefit is available exclusively to the BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) users. Blackberry offers a ringtone for free on all its devices, but the same ringtone is being offered by Apple on its iTunes Store for a price, according to Business Insider. This might seem like a viral marketing campaign to many, but the fact is that BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) has not tricked people as part of it. ‘House of Cards’ is a TV series about the U.S. politicians, and the ringtone is related to this hit Netflix show. Like in reality, Blackberry phones are used by the politicians in the show.

The ringtone has been made distinctive by the show ‘House of Cards,’ and therefore ringtone companies are trying to cash on the knockoff versions of BlackBerry spirit.

On Wednesday, BlackBerry stock closed up 0.10% to $10.37, and year to date the stock is down over 5%.
