Die Hard – Walking Down Memory Lane

3Live Free or Die Hard – 2007

Live Free or Die Hard is the fourth installment that is inspired partially by an article called “A Farewell to Arms” written by John Carlin for Wired magazine. However, at first, the script – named WW3.com and written by David Marconi – was completely different. WW3.com was supposed to debut in the late 1990s, but it had been delayed due to the 9/11 attacks. Later, it was scheduled for a 2002 release, but at the end, the script was reworked by Doug Richardson and adjusted to suit John McClane.

Two other scripts

Ben Trebilcook wrote two other scripts that were on the table. Both were titled Die Hardest, and one of them was set in Tokyo with McClane’s son working for the Nakatomi Corporation, whereas the other one would follow McClane and his daughter combating shipwreck looters in the Caribbean. Both got rejected.
