Huawei Sales are on a Rise, Close Gap with Apple Inc. (AAPL) in China

The Android operating system has been a big player in the mobile industry. One of the main reasons is probably the fact that its use is widely spread on many devices which include Samsung, LG, Huawei, and Lenovo and now even a Blackberry phone is also using the operating system. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) sales will suffer as a result.

It’s no wonder then that the operating system is absolutely dominating the Chinese market. In mobile sales in 2014, iOS, the rival operating system from tech giant Apple had a 25% share of the market compared to the 75% that was taken up by the Google-made operating system, Android. However, this does not reflect how Apple on its own is a big player because their devices are the only ones with access to the iOS operating system, whereas the Android has many ball players playing for it.

The Android system has a number of companies which use it in China like Huawei, Xiaomi, Meizu and Oppo. Despite what the figures suggest, though, the numbers of iPhone and iPad sales that contribute to Apple’s success have been in decline and one of its China rivals is closing in on them.

From nowhere Huawei is now competing as a big player in the China mobile market. Back in 2014, it is reported that compared to other Android devices sales, Huawei only sold 5% of Android smartphones worldwide. However by the beginning of the New Year, Huawei had managed to nearly triple that number to an amazing 14% of the global smartphone market.

Someone is doing something right at Huawei. The company is nearly extinct in the US, so their numbers show great promise and are encouraging. The company has only started selling in European markets. In France and the UK, their sales there have been nothing short of impressive as they doubled their numbers over the year 2015 and secured a number four position for brand ranking whilst in Italy, Germany and Spain, they managed to get the second position.

But their effort in China dwarfs their success in Europe. The company has quickly become a force to reckon with in China where they are originally based. In contrast to Apple’s sales which have been reducing since 2014 Huawei has been closing the gap, getting a massive 24.3% of the market. The China-based company is now slowly but surely establishing itself as a major global player in the smartphone industry and momentum seems to be on their side.
