John Cena is likely to play Duke Nukem in the upcoming movie

It might seem too early to talk about it, but there is a great likelihood of bringing Duke Nukem to the big screen sooner than we expected, which is great news, right? What’s even more interesting is that the famous wrestler that has started his acting career John Cena might be the one trusted with the main role in the movie.

We say it might not be the right time to talk about this project because it is yet to be decided who the writer and the director will be. Nonetheless, we do know that Platinum Dunes, run by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller will produce it.

We have recently had the chance to see Cena in “Daddy’s Home 2,” and he also lent his voice to the animated movie “Ferdinand,” so there’s no reason why he wouldn’t go on to build his acting career like Duke Nukem, don’t you think? In addition to these, he also made a memorable performance in “12 Rounds,” “Legendary,” “The Reunion,” “Trainwreck,” and “Sisters.”

However, there is someone who doesn’t quite agree with us – the actor who voices this character in the video game, Jon St. John. Namely, he posted on his Facebook that people shouldn’t “let Hollywood and Michael Bay kill my character!” He also added that “Video game movies that are not CG are generally not very good. An R rated CG would be the best way to maintain the king’s character. I’ve been Duke since 1995 and would like it to stay that way. Please share and tweet this with me. We won’t let this happen!”

No matter what Jon St. John’s opinion is, the new Duke Nukem movie is something many fans are looking forward to, and we believe it will be delivered in not so distant future. Moreover, we believe that John Cena might be just perfect for this part. That’s all we’ve got for the time being, but stay tuned for more news.
