Rick and Morty Season 3 – News & Update From Dan Harmon

One of the longest and most detailed explanations appeared online a few days ago on why the show’s third season still isn’t here. The one to give the answer was Rick and Morty’s co-creator, Dan Harmon.

Previous to providing us with the 15-tweet long update, Harmon spoke about his career to Indiewire at Sundance. The question of the show was expected to be set, so Harmon came clean about it and said that the series was late because he and co-creator Justin Roiland just couldn’t see eye to eye when it comes to where they wanted to go with the new season.

He said that both he and Justin knew what the problem was, but they just couldn’t come up with the solution. They simply don’t know how they got to that point. He also admitted they were fighting all the time and once they think they were done fighting, both would start fighting about why they were having fights at all.

His statements led to newspapers writing about how in-house argue was what kept Rick and Morty Season 3 getting delayed. This was probably what made Harmon write such a lengthy explanation on Twitter. He named two reasons why they didn’t want to reveal any information on new episodes: scheduling effectively comes down to Adult Swim executives and fear their artists or writers would be harassed.

He also added that Roland and he never fought, suggesting that that might have been the problem. He wrote: “We respect and terrify each other and always want the other to be happy.” He ended his remark on Twitter saying that constant asking when the third season would arrive didn’t make any difference but for people who set those questions to seem rather immature and stupid.
