The Artful Escape is the indie title that was surprisingly announced by Microsoft at their conference for the 2017 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). What is even more interesting are the platforms on which it will be available, and they are Xbox One and Windows PC, but the unfortunate thing is that we still have to wait for an official release date.

If you are not familiar with the game, it actually follows the story of musician Francis Vendetti on his path of crafting his persona following the demise of his legendary musician uncle. With art that can only be described as psychedelic hallucinations, the game is an action-adventure title set in a ’70s rock ‘n’ roll concert. The developers of the game, Beethoven & Dinosaur, described this one as “a video game about great expectations, famous folk singers, lingering shadows, space Gods, hallucinogens, individuality, reptile shops, and wild imaginations.”

What is important to notice is that this game had its fair share of troubles along the way from developer to debut. It started as a Kickstarter project by the name of “The Artful Escape of Francis Vendetti” and it nearly got abandoned after crowdfunding campaign failed to hit its mark, but thanks to the fact that Annapurna Interactive saw its potential it is going to be developed for the Xbox One. Annapurna Interactive backed this one up because it is very similar to their previous title “What Remains of Edith Finch” because both of these are the adventure genre and heavily rely on visual aesthetics.

This game, which is in development currently, promises a lot since its studio Beethoven & Dinosaur is named after a famous composer, and its lead designer Johnny Galvatron used to be a musician in Australia. More details regarding this topic will be soon here, we just have to wait for the conclusion of this year’s E3. Stay close!
