2017 Detroit Auto Show – Which Cars Will We See?

The 2017 Detroit Auto Show is about to start, and we expect to see some great concept and production vehicles there. Moreover, we will find out who the winner of the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year is. Check out the cars we are looking forward to seeing in Detroit.

Concept Vehicles

Audi Q8

In Detroit, Audi will introduce their coupe-like SUV concept named the Q8, which will bear the same name once it goes into production. This model will be the first one presented in Detroit that is planned by the design boss Marc Lichte. Audi vehicles have often been criticized because the models look similar and the Q8 is about to change that. According to the teasers shown, the new SUV in the lineup will bring aggressiveness to the table.

Infiniti QX50

The visitors will also have a chance to see the new concept from Infiniti called QX50. This car has already been revealed, though, and it resembles the QX Sport Inspiration concept that was introduced last year. The concept comes with the new technology such as Nissan and Infiniti’s Pro Pilot driver assist and VC-Turbo variable compression engine.

Volkswagen I.D.

From 2024, Volkswagen electric cars will be based on a new MEB platform. The first car to feature this platform will be a hatchback similar to golf and we had the chance to see the I.D. concept back at the 2016 Paris Auto Show. Now, Volkswagen has prepared a new I.D. concept for Detroit, but instead of a hatchback, the minivan concept will step on the stage. The teasers have been released, but we cannot tell almost anything from them.

Rinspeed Oasis

Rinspeed comes from Switzerland, and they have been trying to predict how the future vehicles will look like for some time now. So far, concept cars like the XchangE, Budii and Etos have been assembled, but a new concept called Oasis is arriving in Detroit. This new car features full self-driving capability, an electric powertrain and a small garden inside.

Production Cars

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe

The ongoing E-Class is not the most beautiful vehicle that you can find but the new car has been redesigned, and it will be more appealing in 2017. Two models are named E400 and E400 4Matic, both of which are equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 unit good for 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. These vehicles will be at dealerships this summer.

2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA

Another addition from the German giant will be unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The new GLA will come with a different exterior design, and it will be more aggressive, while the mechanics will most likely be unchanged.

2018 Lexus LS

The LS from Lexus is crying for overhaul because ever since it was introduced in 2007, it has only been refreshed and updated. Fortunately for us, Lexus enters 2017 with the completely new LS that will be based on the RWD platform, which we had a chance to see on the 2018 Lexus LC for the first time. The 2018 LS will benefit from weight reduction, while it will have a lower center of gravity.

2018 Kia GT (Stinger)

A new sports sedan will be introduced in Detroit by Kia. This sporty model is based on the GT concept unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, and the fans and visitors will get to see something besides luxury vehicles. So far, a great number of prototypes have been seen and even a photo of a pre-production car leaked in November 2016.

2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

We are not sure if the new Corvette ZR1 will actually be in Detroit, but the chances are high, and all indications point that way. This range-topping vehicle should come with an engine that produces more than 650 hp, which means that the new car will be stronger than the Z06.

Some other cars that will debut in Detroit are 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Night Edition, VW Tiguan Allspace, 2018 Honda Odyssey and 2018 Toyota Camry.
