The 2017 Subaru BRZ, if you didn’t know, follows very closely its sibling, the updated Toyota 86. This one was made for US market to replace the FR-S after the death of the Scion brand.

2017 BRZ, the two-door coupe from Subaru, announced earlier this year is trying very hard to set itself somehow apart from its predecessor with a vast amount of small tweaks. These include changes such as restyled front bumper, LED lighting units on both ends with a slightly different design style on the front, standard daytime running lights on all trims and a new set of 17 inch wheels. You might think that this is not much, and you would be probably right, but to a real fan and BRZ enthusiasts, this might seem like a different car.

Inside, for most people, it would look unchanged, and the bulk of tiny changes would pass unnoticed, but for those who are true experts, or close to it, will immediately notice upgrade. The first thing that you will notice is the redesigned steering wheel, updated HVAC controls and the car’s name that is embroidered on the front headrests. and for the final touch, the automaker decided to add a 4.2-inch screen (and a 6.2-inch one on the Premium trim) to the right of the instrument cluster.

The engine department did not receive many changes, which is apparent by a small boost in HP (+5) as well as in torque (+5 lb-ft) which is by today’s standards nothing to talk about. The good thing is that the engine did receive some additional upgrades which is always better than none of course. The one thing that is supposed to cover up low power increase is the new and tweaked suspension together with a new optional Performance Package which has the same chassis upgrades as the trim-topping GT model in Japan.

All in all, it looks good, feels nice, but it would benefit more if it would offer a little more in the power and torque department. An STI version of it would also be very welcomed by the fans out there as well as a fast diet that should take a few pounds of it. Well, we just have to keep hoping and waiting for Subaru to answer our wishes.

My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
