8 Celebrities Who Used Surrogates


According to various sources, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have hired a surrogate in order to carry their third child. However, they are not the first ones to do that, and a lot of celebrities did this before. Truth be told, there is a growing number of celebrities who are hiring surrogate mothers and here are eight of them.

8. Lucy Liu


In 2015, Lucy Liu posted a photo on Twitter with her newborn son, Rockwell Lloyd Liu. However, she was not the one carrying a child, and she had a surrogate instead. She didn’t care about criticism, and the most important thing to her was parental love. Liu has even worked with Tylenol on the campaign #HowWeFamily which accepts all kinds of different families all around the world.

7. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick


Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick had great news for the fans – they would get twins Tabbitha Hodge and Marion Loretta. Later, the popular actress told Access Hollywood that the couple decided to hire a gestational surrogate, whom the paparazzi followed. Tabloids questioned the surrogate, but SJP denied all those accusations. Once, they even mistook the surrogate’s pregnant friend for Sarah’s surrogate and followed the wrong person. Sarah Jessica Parker told Vogue how difficult it was to have a surrogate and keeping it a secret was the worst part.

6. Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery


Ellen Pompeo gave birth to one child, and for the second one, she decided to find a surrogate mother. The Grey’s Anatomy actress shared her experience in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! She said: “This is an incredible thing to do with your life, to give the gift of carrying someone’s child. I am forever grateful and feel very blessed and grateful to her — she who will remain anonymous.”

5. Tyra Banks 


Tyra Banks also wanted a surrogate for her daughter York Banks Asla. The former Victoria’s Secret Angel showed her enthusiasm on social media: “The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. They kept it a secret, but their experience is supposedly fantastic.

2. Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance


Angela and Courtney used a surrogate, and the twins were born in 2006. Bassett and Courtney talked to Oprah Winfrey and Bassett pictured her devastation after seven years of unsuccessful fertility treatments. One day, she was informed that she was going to have a child in four months, but she was confused since she didn’t look pregnant at all. Later on, she found out about a recruited surrogate, and the family is now happy and together.

Matt Bomer, who is Angela Bassett’s American Horror Story co-star has also become a parent thanks to surrogacy. He announced that in 2016 and he and Stephan Hall are now busy dads with three boys, including twins.
