Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) May Take ‘Biggest Camera Jump Ever’ With Its Next iPhone

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) came up with remarkable camera improvements with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and now it is expected that its next generation iPhone might come with the best ever camera i.e. the company has plans of making significant changes to the camera of its new iPhone.

This information has been provided by John Gruber of Daring Fireball via The Tech Block. Of all the information that Gruber heard, most important part was the biggest camera jump ever will be made by the next year’s camera.

Biggest camera jump?

Gruber says, “The specific thing I heard is that next year’s camera might be the biggest camera jump ever. I don’t even know what sense this makes, but I’ve heard that it’s some kind of weird two-lens system where the back camera uses two lenses and it somehow takes it up into DSLR quality imagery.”

While it is not very clear what is meant by the phrase ‘biggest camera jump ever,’ but Gruber says that a two-lens system could be incorporated in the rear camera of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s next iPhone. HTC One M8 had introduced a Duo Lens camera and the camera of the next iPhone sounds similar to that. A standard sensor is combined with the Ultrapixel sensor in the M8, and it helps in improving the image quality by letting in much more light. Shifting of the focus is possible in M8 because of the secondary lens that provides the first lens with the additional information.

Dual lens camera-next big thing

Corephotonics is working on the development of a two lens system, and it serves as a hint towards the capabilities of a two-lens setup in the iPhone. Corephotonics system with two lenses helps in creating the best overall photo by choosing the clearest pixels and comparing the images taken from both. Black and white images are snapped by a lens utilized in the camera that also helps improve the fidelity and allows additional light to enter.

As of now, there is no confirmation if Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is actually working on a two lens system. However, a fact that can’t be ignored is that such cameras are being explored by manufacturers to better the image quality while keeping the device slim.
