BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is all set to launch its new smartphone BlackBerry Oslo. The proposed smartphone is likely to replace its existing product, BlackBerry Passport.

According to reports, the specifications of BlackBerry Oslo will be similar to BlackBerry Passport. The company will be more likely to equip the new smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor or higher. The processor is clocked at 2.2 GHz. The same one was featured in BlackBerry Passport, so customers can expect a better processor in BlackBerry Oslo. The handset will run on BlackBerry OS 10.

The company is likely to retain the LCD display with resolution of1,440 x 1,440. The handset will feature 13 MP rear camera along with a 2 MP front camera. The camera will have OIS support. Critics believe that the company will probably improve the camera.

The battery of the smartphone is the most attractive feature. It sports a huge battery with a capacity of 3,450 mAh. So the handset will run longer. It is said that the BlackBerry Oslo will have improved specifications before its release date. The handset will be launched in June. Though the exact date of launch is not yet declared by the company, sources say the date will be most probably June 30. The much expected smartphone by the BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has already created buzz among the BlackBerry fans.

The new Smartphone is specifically aimed at global consumers. It is believed that the handset will draw most of its looks from BlackBerry Passport.

According to a recent survey by Morgan Stanley, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has registered less number of sales of its BlackBerry Passport. The company seemed to have already begun the development of Blackberry Oslo. Soon after the report released in the last month, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) introduced a huge price reduction in some of its key smartphones. BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic had a price reduction of $50. The new prices were made available on the online store of the company. It seems that the company is all set to replace BlackBerry Passport with the BlackBerry Oslo.
