The new Apple Watch is so Innovative That You Don’t Need Your iPhone


The next-generation Apple Watch will be so innovative and will bring a lot more useful features than the current one, according to the analyst report. Christopher Rolland, the Susquehanna Financial Group analyst has said that the third-gen Apple Watch may come with cellular connectivity.

He also suggested that the new version of the Apple Watch should be launched sometime during this year and it should come with SIM card support, which means that it is likely to support LTE as well. The new LTE device is going to be interoperable with the AirPods, and you will be able to make and receive phone calls with ease.

Bringing cellular connectivity to the Apple Watch is something that has been rumored for a long time now, and it was even expected on the second-generation, but we only got GPS support. There were some problems with battery life which stopped the introduction of the new tech.

Rolland reports that although “some issues remain, including battery life and form factor size […] significant progress has been made. Apple may be employing VOIP and data across a CAT-M1 connection for superior battery life.”

The upcoming Apple Watch simply must feature cellular connectivity which would make the device more useful. The new gadget would no longer be iPhone-dependent, and it would still offer convenience and portability for phone calls and music service, but there is no doubt that the price of the watch would go up.

This report hasn’t been verified by Apple, so it may not be entirely true, and Rolland could be wrong. Some of the rumors and speculations about the Apple Watch 3 point at more modest hardware improvements, so we will take this news with a pinch of salt. However, cellular connectivity is a reasonable demand, and it has been in the pipeline for a long time now.
