Now Google Inc (GOOG) Offers iOS Users Guide To Switch To Android

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) has taken the new Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices as serious threats and hence it too is finding out ways to retain its customers and at the same time draw the attention of Apple users to its platform.

For the purpose, the company recently launched a new website called Switch. This website has been launched with the purpose of motivating the Apple iPhone and iPad users to switch over to Android devices, and the website guides how they can do move their data easily to Android-based devices.

Apple, Google trying all means to attract users

The website serves as an instruction manual for the owners of Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices that run on iOS mobile operating system. As per the site, users can easily transfer data including music, photos and contacts from the Apple devices to Android devices. It also allows setting up email and finding those apps that were used by the users on their iOS based devices.

Last month, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) launched a guide of its own for the Android uses to switch to iOS. Apple had a similar pattern as Google explaining how simple it is to move data, contacts etc from Android device to an iOS one. This is a shot at Apple though not a very significant one as the site has a very limited scope.

Google site gives detailed instructions to the customers how to transfer content from one device to another. It lays emphasis on the simplicity with which the users can make these transfers. At the bottom of the page we find a message, “Hooray! Enjoy your new Android device” followed by a link to the page that discusses in detail various usages of Android features.

Ongoing battle for supremacy

A war of words has been going on between the major smartphone rivals Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Apple. The battle is for acquiring the highest number of customers, and pinpoint shortfalls of other whenever one finds an opportunity. An attack was made by Apple at Android’s alleged fragmentation last week during a press conference. They criticized Android on grounds that the platform is having trouble getting users onto a single version of the software. On the other hand, Google counter attacked by discussing the benefits of the Android platform, and its many useful features that make the product different from others.

Research firm ComScore released a report last month, where it stated that Android had occupied almost 51% share of the US market while Apple’s iOS share in the market is more than 42%.
