A prequel comic is in plan by Marvel to lead us into Spider-Man: Homecoming

The latest actor to play Marvel superhero Spider-Man is Tom Holland who, before this, jumped into action to help Iron Man in the latest Captain America: Civil War. He was brilliant in that film, and he is definitely going to be more than brilliant in the new Spider-Man: Homecoming. But what is new here is that the Marvel won’t make you wait for the release of the movie dry because they have plans to release a prequel comic book that is supposed to lead us into the sequel that is currently still being filmed.

At the moment Amazon is making a listing for a trade paperback called Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude that is supposed to be released on June 20, 2017, and it is 112 pages long. Sadly there aren’t any plot info other than usual stuff everybody knows such as that he lives with his Aunt May, attends high school, he is a friendly neighborhood hero and so on… There is also one more piece of important info, and it says that the Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude will be sold separately as two individual issues which will be available for grabs earlier next year in your local comic book store, or you can look for electronic editions if you can’t wait until next June. Some speculations are that there might even be some older Spider-Man issues included as a bonus (possibly the ones that started the actual comic book Spidey).

Maybe you know, maybe you don’t, but this isn’t the first time Marvel is doing something like this. Almost every similar release has been accompanied by a kind of series on printed pages, usually, preludes. Some of the movies (Iron Man 2, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man) even received short series, but don’t think that one MUST by any means read the prequel for Spider-Man: Homecoming to understand what is going on in the movie. It is envisioned only as a fun reading material to show you what was Peter Parker up to between Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The latest superhero movie is set to follow its protagonist in the events after the fight with Tony Stark and the other heroes in Captain America: Civil War, such as his life which is torn between being a high school student and fighting crimes around Queens. He will also be armed with some special gadgets (web-shooters) as well as technology that he received from Tony Stark as a thank you for helping out in the Civil War. This only shows that Spidey is going to step up his game and face more advanced adversaries such as The Vulture, Tinkerer, and Shocker. Next to Tom Holland the new Spider-Man movie will host other key players such as Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as FlashThompson and Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark – Peter’s informal mentor.
