Terry Brooks’s Shannara (series of fantasy novels) proved to be inspiring enough to be adapted into TV fantasy drama The Shannara Chronicles, which was first released in January 2016 on MTV. Soon afterward, the idea of filming another season was considered and thus the plans for Season 2 were announced even before the 2016 New York Upfront Presentation.
The MTV Executive Vice President and Head of Scripted Development has said that the creative team made the new season captivating and that it will be like a breath of fresh air. Everyone is looking forward to watching this beautiful show which depicts character journeys and brings more interesting stories.
As for the members of the team, they have claimed to be more than thrilled not only to try and maintain the quality standards of the first season but to raise the bar even higher.
It can be said that The Shannara Chronicles Season 1 was quite a strong performer on digital platforms, for it had brought a significant traffic growth to the MTV App and it turned out to be the highest grossing digital download on MTV. The average viewership per episode has been estimated to be around 1.8 million. Bearing all of this in mind together with a highly positive response from the fans and the fact that this season ranked as MTV’s top-rated series, the producers didn’t hesitate about filming the next one.
The details about cast or plot changes are still kept secret, but it is rumored that the crew is likely to remain the same. Anyway, the loyal fans are on the edge of their seats.
Ivana Baquero, Poppy Drayton, Austin Butler and Manu Bennett are some of the cast members starring in this drama full of adventures the characters embark on in the fictional Four Lands.
