Skype for BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY)’s BB10 Updated With New Look, Improved Navigation


Skype application for BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has been updated with new visuals and other updates to enhance the user experiences. The update also offers a brand new look inspired by Google’s Material Design, says a report from Softpedia.

More uniform Skype experience

Besides these major changes, there are few other changes as well as confirmed by the developers. It seems like the new version of Skype for BlackBerry 10 comes with navigation improvements. This means that now it will be easier for the users to make quick calls, send instant messages or send a video message by simply tapping on the floating action button located at the lower right. The latest update also introduces a new search feature to help users find and keep track of the most important conversations and contacts easily.

With this update, Skype for BlackBerry 10 devices will most likely come in-line with its Android version available at the Google Play Store. The new ‘Skype for BlackBerry 10’ application is available at BlackBerry World for free download. All the devices powered by BlackBerry 10 and upper versions can run the updated version of this application.

BlackBerry Venice spotted in public

 In separate news, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s rumored device Venice has been spotted at the Toronto Film Festival, and BerryFlow was the first to report this. In an image released by BerryFlow, the device can be seen running a near stock version of the Messenger app.

BlackBerry Venice was seen featuring a sliding QWERTY keyboard just beneath the display in the images leaked previously. Regular dialler, contacts, mail, Chrome, Camera, Calendar, and Play Store apps were shown on the home screen in one the leaked images. The top panel of the handset was also shown in one of the leaked mages, showing the slots for SIM card and microSD card. Home and volume rocker keys were included in the right panel. The rear panel of the device has a textured pattern along with an 18MP rear camera with OIS and dual-LED flash.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) Venice is expected to sport a 5.4-inch screen with Quad-HD display and a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. It will run on a powerful 1.8GHz hexa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 808 SoC, and has a RAM of 3GB. Starting November, the handset is expected to arrive on all four US carriers – AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobiles and Sprint.
