USA TODAY’s Movie Person of the Year: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!

This boulder of a human never sang before onscreen, well at least until he took on Walt Disney’s South Pacific adventure “Moana,” with an original song specially written by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Before performing the song, You’re Welcome (which is basically a song demand for mortal thanks from Johnson’s demigod Maui for legendary deeds) “The Rock” received one piece of advice from Miranda: “Own it. Own the song, I wrote it for you. There’s no one else on this planet that can sing, “You’re Welcome” with a smile and make people feel good,” Johnson recalled for USA TODAY.

If you take listen to the song and look at the performance, you do realize that no one could sing better words like “I know it’s a lot, the hair, the bod. When you’re staring at a demigod” and by doing it bring many laughs as Johnson could, and did. Dwayne actually listened to Miranda’s advice and owned the song and furthermore translated his “over-sized” personality into his demigod character. Together with his female star character they launched this animated movie to box office smash success over the Thanksgiving holiday, which is not something that should be neglected.

For those of you who still do not know, Johnson age 44 is in period in his career where he is about to hit a legendary status. This superhuman is a former college football player that turned pro wrestler, turned one-man movie industry, and worked full throttle in 2016 which is the same year he was named People’s hottest man alive. This guy just isn’t stopping for anything, and he managed to do his December 13’s Rock the Troops on Spike TV to honor the military and complete the second season of his HBO drama Ballers.

This is not all as he also teamed up with the other hardest-working man in show business, Kevin Hart, to do a comedy hit Central Intelligence. These two are just the people to teach you how to work non-stop in Hollywood, grinding all day and every day. But the fame isn’t going to hit Dwayne in the head. With his 10.7 million Twitter followers and 72.5 million Instagram followers, he is trying not to take himself too seriously and always give out superstar smiles and offer a good time.

But do not think that he will make a pause after all of this. He has set himself up for an even more incredible 2017 year with The Fate of the Furious (April 14), than the R-rated Baywatch (May 26) and the year-ending release of the adventure Jumanji, which was just recently completed with Hart and Jack Black. If this doesn’t show just how hard working, he is then nothing ever will. Thank you Dwayne for everything that you are!

Miloš Kalajdžić
My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
