The X-Files Season 11 Release Date

“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide,” Fox president David Madden said in April, and he also posted this amazing tweet you can see below.

“Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop-culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files,” Madden added.

The production of the new season will start this summer, while the new episodes will air sometime in the 2017-2018 season. The fans must be thrilled because they will finally see what is about to happen with the major cliffhanger at the end of season 10. If you are too anxious to wait, know that Audible will post prequel podcasts voiced by Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.

What’s going to happen?

Ever since the new X-Files season has been announced, we have only had bits and pieces leaking out. Glen Morgan will write two episodes, but we also expect his brother Darin to be involved in the action as well. Furthermore, James Wong will return for two episodes, and he told us something more about the Season 11.

“You know, we want do to mythology stories and stories that connect with each other, but I think we’re still interested in doing standalone stories. I think the second episode I do will be more of a standalone story, and the first one will have some connections to the mythology, but not as connected as Chris’s episodes,” explained Wong.

We have another great news for the fans. The new season is going to have ten episodes instead of just six that we saw in the 10th season. That just makes us want to watch the show even more now.

The X-Files Season 11 Comic

Actually, there is a way to see what is going on in the upcoming season. The X-Files season 11 already exists in the comic book form, and if you are willing to replace it with the TV show, we say go for it. At one point, the show looked unlikely to come back to television screens, so IDW decided to continue it in the comic book version.

The story in the comic’s season 11 revolves around Fox Mulder who becomes an Edward Snowden-style figure. Honestly, the US government took care of it, and as a result, the character is on the run. Moreover, chess prodigy Gibson Praise returned and these are some of the elements you are not going to see in the TV show, for sure.

Of course, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are coming back as Scully and Mulder. That was never the question. Also, Mitch Pileggi will return as Walter Skinner, while William B Davis will continue to play “The Cigarette Smoking Man.” Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund and Bruce Harwood will also drop in as “Lone Gunmen.”

Even though Season 10 was short, we have seen so many guest stars such as Joel McHale, Rhys Darby, Annabeth Gish and Kumail Nanjiani, so we expect to see more guests in the new sequel.

The writing team has been officially confirmed, and it will consist of Chris Carter, Glen Morgan, James Wong and Darin Morgan. Glen is supposed to write two episodes of the new season. This crew will be joined by writing assistants Gabe Rotter, Benjamin Van Allen and Chris Carter’s personal assistant Brad Follmer.

The X-Files Season 11 is coming soon! Stay tuned.
