Apple Inc. (AAPL) China Delay, Could Be Win For Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

On Tuesday, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) announced that their new Galaxy Note 4 Smartphone will go on sale in China and South Korea later this month. An early launch in these markets will help the Korean firm to defend its sales from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new iPhone.

Smart thinking to counter Apple

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) announced that all three South Korean mobile operators will begin selling Galaxy Note 4 this Friday. The Chinese mobile carriers will release the new phone before the end of the month. Such announcement marks the first time when the South Korean company has released a flagship smartphone in China before releasing in other overseas market.

It seems to be a good strategy taken by Samsung as the most awaited device Apple Inc.’s iPhone 6 is yet to arrive in China.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) lags behind in making its phone available to the overseas market because of the huge demand. The iPhone maker reported 10 million in sales of the iPhone 6 and 6 plus models in the first three days after the phones went on sale. Apple’s new phone is a huge hit in the market as the company has come up with a big-screen, one of the competitive advantages enjoyed by Samsung over Apple.

Tough times for Samsung

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 4’s display measures 5.7-inch diagonally, slightly larger than the biggest iPhone. The new Note also comes with a stylus generally known as “S Pen” for note taking and drawing.

“Other companies are releasing smart phones with 5-inch and 6-inch displays as well but no one can easily catch up to Samsung’s big screen and the unique capability of the S Pen,” Lee Don-joo, president of Samsung’s mobile sales and marketing, told reporters.

Samsung’s early move in China comes at a time, when it is facing challenges on multiple fronts. The company reported declining smartphone sales owing to a tough fight from local brands emerging from India and China.

The executive told that the Samsung’s new product Note 4 will definitely beat the Note 3, its predecessor. Lee also told that the company is going through tough times, but this is likely to be over soon. , Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) will come out with its earnings preview early next month.  The Korean company shares are down to a two-year low this week.
