Has The Rock Retired From Wrestling? Will He Ever Return To The Ring?

There is no doubt that Dwayne The Rock Johnson has become one of the greatest wrestlers in history, but the fact is that he moved on, and now has a different career. His busy schedule in Hollywood and the fact that he is always involved in multimillion-dollar projects leaves little space for him to participate in WWE events. All this could be jeopardized in case he gets hurt during some of the demanding moves in the ring.

Something similar happened in the last full match that he had with John Cena at Wrestlemania 29. This clash lasted for approximately 45 minutes, but at about 15-minute mark The Rock felt that something is wrong. Unfortunately, he tore his adductor, and even that didn’t stop him to provide us with one of the best matches ever, this significantly impacted filming of one of his projects and it had to be postponed.

According to Dave Meltzer, the publisher and editor of Wrestling Observer, Hollywood simply invested too much time and money into building Dwayne Johnson, and no one can afford him getting hurt. This would be a huge impact for the business, and as a result, it is hard to believe we will see The People’s Champ wrestling ever again.

“There’s too much money in him. He got hurt, he had a hernia the year before he tore the hamstring,” Meltzer said and continued, “So it’s like he’s been getting hurt in his matches already. When you get hurt once you go, ‘it’s one time’ but when you’re getting hurt a lot it’s probably not a good idea especially as he’s getting older and as muscular as he is.”

Last performance of The Rock came in a six-second clash with Erick Rowan when he immediately destroyed him, and then, backed up by John Cena went against The Wyatt Family. It is clear that he isn’t all that young anymore and that he needs to take good care of his body to avoid injuries.

It was reported that WWE wanted him to be teamed up with Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania 34 and to go up against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. This didn’t happen, and the company went with Kurt Angle instead. Rousey and Angle managed to beat their opponents, and we did get quite a good clash.

At the moment there are no details about the future cooperation of Dwayne Johnson and WWE, but also, we don’t have any info about his retirement. What is clear is that he will definitely focus on acting and his future in Hollywood.
