Matthew Stafford Leads Lions On A Game-Winning Drive

Everybody needs to start mentioning Stafford when there is a talk about the best quarterbacks in the NFL. This man if flying under the radar right now, but if he keeps playing like he has been as of late, that won’t be the case much longer. This was a nail-biter in Detroit, but Lions have pulled it off.

Both Redskins and Lions are known for their offenses and for having bad defenses. This should have been a high-scoring match, but that was not the case. Washinton had a lot of turnovers that cost them the game at the end. Kirk Cousins passed for 301 yards and had a TD pass and even one run for the score. That running touchdown gave his squad the lead and Lions needed to score a TD at that point in order to win the game.

And that is what they did. Matthew Stafford was just perfect during that drive. Two big gains and one big run were all that Detroit needed to get to Washington’s 20-yard line.

Stafford threw a perfect laser to veteran wideout Anquan Boldin who knew where to be and what to do. He ran the ball into the end zone and gave Lions the third straight win.

Matthew Stafford finished the game with 266 passing yards and one touchdown pass. But that one was enormous for this team that is over .500 for the first time this season. Detroit’s QB could easily enter the MVP race if Lions keep playing winning football.
