Could Tony Romo Be Involved In Kirk Cousins Trade?

It seems that Tony Romo’s days in Big D are numbered. Even though Jerry Jones loves this guy, he does realize that his salary is hitting the cap and it is preventing them from acquiring some other talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball as they need to improve there. Romo is probably not going to start, so that salary of his is something that Cowboys need to ditch quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Kirk Cousins has received a franchise tag for the second year in a row which suggests that the Redskins probably don’t believe that he is the quarterback of the future and they are not willing to sign him to a long-term deal.

But, there are reports that a third team is going to get involved here and it seems that it’s going to be the San Francisco 49ers that are on the hunt for a signal caller. Kyle Shanahan is now leading the charge for the Niners, and it’s no secret that they are actively looking for a quarterback. Kaepernick has opted out of this deal, and the Niners are probably ready to move on from him. They would like to make a deal for Kirk Cousins as they see him as a guy that can lead this team going forward.

Washington also doesn’t want to let go their quarterback for nothing. They are still a decent team and probably a big-time QB away from being a contending team. In this potential deal, they would be getting Tony Romo, a guy that is pretty much just as good as Cousins, but more of a short-term plan. With Romo, they wouldn’t have to be locked in with that long-term deal for Cousins.
