2018 BMW X3 – Official Preview Video

Usually, when camouflaged prototypes are tested in the harsh winters of Sweden, they are caught on cameras, but this has not been the case with the 2018 BMW X3. Namely, BMW didn’t want its new model to be spied so the company released an excellent video in which you can see the new vehicle driving on the snow-covered paths in the Swedish outback. This crossover has been tested in Arjeplog which is just 35 miles south of the polar circle, and because of that, the car had to withstand cold temperature or to be more precise -4 degrees Fahrenheit.

What other place is better than freezing Sweden to test the X3’s Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and find out what needs to be modified in the xDrive AWD configuration for the new car. Even though the vehicle wears some heavy covers, it is exciting to note that the prototype comes with a production body. This is our best look at the next-gen X3 which is supposed to bring new exterior design, while the cabin will mostly remain unchanged.

The new BMW X3 will be based on CLAR platform which means weight reduction and improved fuel efficiency and performances. In order to differentiate between this model and the X1, the X3 is expected to be bigger, and it will consequently sport more spacious cabin and a larger trunk.

There is a lot to choose from in the X3 family, and the German manufacturer will add a pretty powerful M40i and M40d with diesel unit to the lineup. In addition, the X3 M will also be available, but if you are chasing a great plug-in hybrid with outstanding fuel economy, the X3 EV, which will be introduced in 2024, is the right choice for you.
