Cristiano Ronaldo Donates Money for the Children in Syria

Cristiano Ronaldo made a donation for the children in war-torn Syria, and we should all follow his example. The Real Madrid star used social media in order to spread the message, and he recorded a video in which he says that the children in Syria are “the true heroes” and even more important – “Don’t lose your hope.”

Ronaldo made a donation on behalf of the London-based Save the Children international organization and this money will be used for medical supplies, food, and clothes. The Portuguese superstar has supported this organization since 2013, and for this particular occasion, he didn’t want to talk about the details of the donation. He only added that it “will help us provide much-needed relief to children from Aleppo and across Syria.”

He wrote on social media that this is a “message of hope,” while he said in the video: “This is for the children of Syria. We know you have been suffering a lot. I am a very famous player, but you are the true heroes. Don’t lose your hope. The world is with you. I am with you.”

According to the Syrian military, they have taken full control over Aleppo for the first time in four years. This town has been devastated, and its buildings destroyed, while many civilians including a lot of children have been killed.

Save the Children’s Nick Finney stated: “Cristiano Ronaldo’s generous donation will help us to support children from Aleppo and across Syria, who have suffered things children should never have to live through. We are tremendously grateful for his life-changing support. Ronaldo is not only one of the world’s most iconic sports figures, but he also has become a beacon of hope for millions of boys and girls worldwide — and hope is something that Syria’s children need now more than ever.”

Ronaldo has been generous before as well. In March, we had a chance to see a photo of him and his son as they are holding a picture of a 5-year old Syrian boy called Ayman with a soccer ball. In the tweet, he wrote:”#SaveSyriasChildren like 5 yr old Ayman* who loves playing football like Cristiano Junior.”

The president and CEO of Save the Children said: “With Ronaldo’s help, we can keep the focus on the children of the Syrian war, many of whom have known nothing but war their entire life. After five years of this conflict, we don’t want the world to forget the children — they shouldn’t have to pay the price for the world’s inaction.”
