Early Life

The Riot Games, Inc. was founded by Brandon “Ryze” Beck and Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill in 2006, and their headquarter is located in West Los Angeles, California. Previously, they were simply known as League of Legends. The company was then sold to a Chinese company Tencent Holdings Limited. They also acquired Radiant Entertainment, a video game developing company, while other companies like Benchmark Capital and FirstMark Capital are some of the biggest investors who do business with them.

The company also collaborates with an online game service provider Garena who distribute the game online. Riot Games’ultra-popular League of Legends is also present in the Philippines, China, Singapore, Vietnam, Brazil, Russia, Malaysia, Greece, Thailand, Taiwan, Canada, South, Korea, Japan, and Indonesia.



League of Legends (LoL) was launched as their first title back in October 2009. It almost immediately gained huge popularity among gamers, with thousands of fans committing to it. They currently have 19 studios and 23 offices around the world. In the years following the release of LoL, they announced that 32.5 million players play their game, while 11.5 million play monthly and 4.2 million daily.

Recently though, the online multiplayer game has had 100 million monthly players. Riot arranges online tournaments all over the globe, which makes their profile growby the day. They employ 2,500 people who are constantly engaged in development and maintenance.
